B. Rustfrit stål A/S is the first subcontractor in Denmark to offer laser welding on a TruLaser robot.

Laser welding is a process that produces an amazingly beautiful finish while constituting an economically attractive alternative to traditional welding.

Laser welding generally offers many advantages over the traditional welding processes. This is in part because of its forward speed and repetitive accuracy, as well as because of its controlled generation of heat.

Laser welding is especially different from the other welding processes in its controlled generation of heat, as laser welding creates a very narrow heat zone and therefore substantial savings in finishing work, where straightening, grinding and polishing today are price-raising manual processes. The use of laser welding partially eliminates the need for this work – often resulting in significant economic savings.

Another of laser welding’s many benefits is the possibility of welding far more complicated geometric forms, which opens up for entirely new possibilities in terms of construction. At the same time, the minimal heat exposure translates to less thermal impact on the material, allowing you to reduce material consumption by using thinner plates.

On a market where delivery, price and quality are key parameters for competition, with this new technology, we expect to be able to reduce the manufacturing cost by 10% to 30% while improving both the quality and finish of the final product.
